SMU Huskies and the Prospect Bulls
November 20th, 2012
On Tuesday November 20th Head Coach Jonah Taussig , Kadeem Scott, Riley Halpin and I mentored Mini and Bantam Boys at the Home of the Prospect Bulls. It was a great opportunity for us all; being able share our experiences both as players and coaches, and also learning from these kids who came to work hard this evening. I am thankful of the opportunity and also appreciative for the time the parents of those kids gave in order to ensure that their kids benefit from us all. They also had the opportunity to watch our Home Opener basketball game and with the help of Saint Mary’s University’s Department of Athletics and Recreation, we were able to gear them up with some SMU Huskies apparel. Below is a response via email from the parents of Royce.
“Coach Taussig,

I also reunited with two youths living with Autism that I worked with during this summer through my Co-op work term. Dylan and Brandon were accompanied by their mother, Michelle and were live at tonights basketball game. They were loud and screamed my name at the top of their voices during in game action. It was a great feeling knowing that they were present and also, I am appreciative of the lasting relationship we have established.

Autism Nova Scotia Summer Camp
June-August, 2012
The category of youths I focused on this summer and had the opportunity to work with are those living with the Autism Spectrum Disorder: I am appreciative of the time, effort and trust these parents had in giving me the opportunity to share my experience, and experience the daily lives of these kids. #HarryCares

Introduction to Basketball Basics: Armbrae Pre-School
Friday June 8, 2012
A visit to Armbrae Pre-School presentation with Head Coach of the Saint Mary’s Huskies Basketball to educate and demonstrate to pre-school students thee “Introduction to Basketball Basics.” A fun morning with the kids and you learn how appreciative these kids are — especially when they have someone to look up to. They learn so quickly!
Its never too early to introduce the game of basketball to our youth. Sports, physical activity, and play all have a positive impact on kids. The game of basketball is more than just a game: it’s physically, mentally, and emotionally rewarding. Every child deserves the opportunity to experience play, to be a kid, and to learn and grow through sport.
“It feels great to share my passion with kids. They get to have fun and build on lessons learned in school — like team-work and fair play.” -Harry Ezenibe
